Sonoma Coast State Beach, CA - Wright's Beach

My kind of beach would be warm sun, tanning with my bikini on. Unfortunately, We don't really have that in Northern California (I get cold easily). But it's still really great to be at the beach near the ocean especially if you're camping on the beach!

View from our site
Wright's Beach is a quiet little campground with about 9-10 premium sites that overlook the California Coast. There are other sites tucked in the back but still a short walk to the beach. The down side (for me) is that it can get breezy (if you're on the premium sites).

The sunset each night (if it's clear) is just beautiful and you can enjoy it right from your site. The kids love that there's sand everywhere!

Sand! Sand! Sand!

The bathrooms are clean but there are no showers. There are free showers at Bodega Dunes which is part of the Sonoma Coast State Beach. The drive is short and the water is hot.

My family camps here annually, sometimes more than once. We just spent 4 nights during the memorial holiday weekend (we usually max out at 3 nights). It was a nice and relaxing vacation. We've only recently started coming here 3 years ago in 2012 after purchasing an RV. It was always too cold for me to be in the coast but with our home away from home, that's not an issue and everyone is comfortable including the kiddos. If mommy is happy, everyone is happy ;)

Nevada State Beach

This was our first time at the Nevada State Beach campground. It's located in Zephyr Cover, NV (near the casinos) on the beautiful Lake Tahoe.

We absolutely love Lake Tahoe. Prior to starting a family, my husband and I tent camped annually (sometimes more than once) at DL Bliss located just north of Emerald Bay. After having kids and investing in a trailer, we stopped going there because of the RV restrictions (Space is tight). Having a home away from home allows us to camp in comfort and enjoy the outdoors with our kids.

Anyway, it's still a little cooler in May but the weather was great (no rain or snow). The sites are spacious and flat so it's perfect for bike rides with the kiddos.

There are plenty of shopping and casinos (if you like to gamble) nearby. If you forget anything, there's a Safeway right around the corner.

And the Beach.... the beach is just a few minutes walk. If you prefer to drive into the parking lot, there's a $7 fee. Some of the sites are really close to the beach so you can step out of your site, and you're there :)

The kids had so much fun exploring the outdoors and playing with the millions of pine cones fallen from the trees. Unfortunately, my 4 year old son was hit on the head by one falling off the tree... poor baby. He was alright. Went right back to playing after calming down.

I love that the fire pit is low. I was worried about the kids being close to it but as long as you keep an eye on the kiddos, all is good. The low fire pits are perfect for getting maximum heat.
